Olser was managing the firm’s Knowledge Management collection in a legacy database application (inMagic). The collection had grown to 30,000 documents and presented the following challenges:

  • Poor search experience
  • Limited metadata management capabilities
  • No integration with the firm’s SharePoint portal platform

V51 conducted workshops with Osler’s knowledge management experts. We distilled the key elements of a successful precedent management strategy and recommended leveraging SharePoint’s faceted search web parts and SharePoint document libraries:

  • Ajax search and metadata look-ups
  • SharePoint 2010 Search
  • Faceted Search Web Parts
  • Custom search results
